Townsend Store Gets Greenlight
The decision has been made to move forward with the construction of a new retail store site in Townsend! The new store will be constructed just south of the city, at the corner of Highway 287 and Mostad Road.Your board of directors approved the plan for this seven-acre site last September. Since then, we’ve been working to obtain the required permits, including one from the Montana Department of Environmental Quality for the use of a private well and septic system for a new recreational vehicle (RV) dump.
Why we chose to build
Rocky Mountain Supply (RMSI) made the choice to construct a new retail store versus remodeling the existing site because of the need for an increased amount of land/real estate to be able to expand the retail store, to add more fuel dispensers, and to allow for much improved parking and traffic flow. The target completion date is sometime in October 2021.
What will the store look like?
The Townsend store will be housed within a new 9,000-sq. ft. building. The main retail space will be about 8,000 sq. ft. with other space being occupied by restrooms, mechanical room, and receiving room. At a minimum, the retail space will be at least 50% larger than the space at our current store. In a second story, the new building will have another 1,260 sq. ft. of offices, meeting/breakroom, and IT space. A new warehouse at the new Townsend site will be approximately 5,000 sq. ft. and will house feed and pet food products. The fencing yard will be split into two spaces but will encompass approximately one acre of the site.
We will expand our fuel island capabilities on both the gasoline and diesel islands, from that of our current retail store. We will have 24 parking spaces for single vehicles and a minimum of seven designated parking spaces for vehicles that are towing boats, campers, trailers, etc.
You can expect to see a very similar image inside and outside this store as you have seen at our Dillon and Belgrade retail stores. We are very much looking forward to getting this project off the ground and completed in order to serve you.
